Made Cards

I had always used to stitch cards but no matter how rewarding it is it's still a very long winded process whereas paper/card card crafting is a much quicker gratification!!!

My forte seems to be in using Craft Artist Studio which I adore designing cards on and also using CD's. Though currently my time is taken mostly by making for friends and family I do intend to start selling should I get round the guilty feeling of asking for money! Oh dear, I'll never make my fortune will I!!!

The week has been a strange one, I have been playing 'Furry Cat Mother' and cat sitting for a friend whilst she has been on holiday. With eight of the little darlings I haven't been short of attention that's for sure though I suspect it's of the cupboard love variety!! Dashing up to hers everyday and coupled with Hospital (nothing serious I hasten to add) I was more than glad of the arrival of Friday and the delivery of the pearl HunkyDory topper pack with free backing cards, time to play :)

This card isn't from the pack, the backing card and circular toppers and sentiment are from HunkyDory but the decoupage seaside theme was designed by me on Craft Artist Studio as too the 'Lazy Summer Days'. It is for a friend in America who has a birthday soon and though not very traditionally American I thought our love affair in Britain of the seaside was a nice slant.

The second card this week is a bit of a thank you to my Mum as she got me the 'Neighbourwood' bird stamp and I promised I would use it the first time for her! So again I have laid down a backing paper on Craft Artist Studio, layered a ribbon across and then a frame image over that, leaving the central panel of the card blank so I could cut out an aperture. I also printed the flowers in the top right hand corner. I then cut a matching aperture in a card blank and overlaid the printed design on top. I printed out the flowers again turning them into decoupage, added embellishments and stamped and coloured the birds onto a separate piece of card which I then aligned up in the aperture window.

It was to have a matching border to the printed ribbon around the edge of the card but I got the order of the double sided tape wrong!! So as all crafters do I 'mangled'!! I had to trim the card blank down to cut off the tape and attached the border embellishment at the top to hide the tape there!

Mum liked it and was none the wiser!! Phew!

Monday Again!

I can't believe how fast last week went, a much looked forward to break in Derbyshire for a couple of days came and went! I stayed in a beautiful 300 year old hall called Bagshaw Hall, even with resident ghost, who sadly didn't make an entrance!

Though the trip may have worn me out and drained my bank account, as naturally I got crafting supplies on my travels (!) I still mananged to make a few cards.

The poppy topper is from a Debbi Moore CD, the rest of the layering and black scroll work at the bottom is designed by me on Craft Artist Studio. I have made another card but cannot publish as this is for a friends birthday which is very soon!

I think I say this all the while...must blog more...it just never seems to happen with everything else getting in the way! Anyway, this time I'm laid up sick with all the nasty chest things that is making the rounds this year and after overdosing on Create and Craft tv I became inspired again to blog!
Sadly I haven't been as productive in the last four weeks as I wish I could have been, snot gets everywhere, ruins your cards don't you know! I have finished a few Easter cards and presents but as yet I cannot publish naturally as you never know who is going to see them before they receive them! ;)
But I have got my Mothers Day card finished some time ago along with a gift.
The card was part HunkyDory card stock, part Debbie Moore CD and then along with various embellishments. I believe it is called a letter style card.
